“ Your first 10,000 photographs are your worst.” – Henri Cartier-Bresson

With that in mind I figured I should probably make a start!

My name’s Ryan, a 28 year old Northern Irishman currently fortunate enough to be living in the wonderful Sydney, Australia. Surely one of the best cities in the world. Before I settled here I spent a large part of 2013/14 travelling around South East Asia, an indescribably amazing and life changing experience, the memories of which still give me goosebumps. Before backpacking I could be found living and working in Edinburgh, Scotland, still one of my favourite places and somewhere that will always be close to my heart.

Originally I’m from a small town in Northern Ireland called Carrickfergus but moved to Edinburgh for University and pretty much lived there ever since. If you’ve never been, Edinburgh feels more like a sprawling jigsaw of villages rather than the capital city that it is. Where you might normally find a skyline overcrowded by skyscrapers, instead you find Edinburgh is full of cobbled streets and surrounded by hills, castles and extinct volcanoes. There’s not too many city centres in the world with that kind of scenery right on their doorsteps, and safe to say it was a great place to inspire the photographer in me.

As for my interest in photography, I guess it has always been there for as long as I can remember but I just never made the leap to study it in any sort of formal way. Throughout school I focused more on science, business and mathematics, going on to complete a BSc in Mathematics in Edinburgh followed by an MSc in Finance at Queens University Belfast. I’m now pursuing a career in investment but have started to make a real effort to enjoy my photography in my free time.

I’m planning to use this website as a space to share a selection of my photographic work as well as blog about my various travels and experiences. If you have any questions or would like to purchase prints of any of the photographs on the site, just use the contact page to get in touch.
